Our history

The Sherbrooke Hussars is an Eastern Townships regiment whose roots span more than two centuries of history. Known by the acronym Sher H, The Sherbrooke Hussars is a bilingual regiment of the Canadian Army Reserve Force, located in Sherbrooke, Qc. As a member of the Armored Corp, The Sher H trains among other things in mounted cavalery, convoy escort and many other things. Being experts in vehicle combat is the main tasks of the Hussars. In the last couple of years, we achieved the initial operational capability for the detection of CBRN (chemical, bacteriological, radiological and nuclear) weapons in armored vehicles. CBRN skills will develop in concert with those of armored reconnaissance.

We are the oldest military institution in the Eastern Townships, celebrating our 157th anniversary in 2023.

We currently have more than 125 active members who participate in the training and the regimental activities

One of our most important artefact is a Sherman type armored vehicule, who partipated in the Normandy invasion during the second World War, fought for the rest of the war and came back home intact : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bomb_(tank)
